Dr Glen Power

Glen Power is Managing Director of the Lions Eye Institute.  Glen has spent the past 24 years in senior executive roles in both the public and private health sectors, including 18 years as a chief executive officer or general manager of several hospitals around Australia.  He served for three years as chief of staff and principal policy advisor to the Minister for Health in Western Australia.  Glen is a Rhodes Scholar and holds a doctoral degree in metabolic biochemistry from Oxford University.  He also studied undergraduate science and law at Melbourne, Murdoch and the University of Western Australia.

Alongside work and career, Glen has served on the boards of several medical research institutes and educational charities and is currently the Western Australian director on the board of the Rhodes Scholarships in Australia Pty Ltd and a director of aged care provider Bethanie Group Incorporated.

Glen has two sons, who he loves spending time with in the southern forests.  He has just published a new book, ‘Trout in Western Australia’.
