We are thrilled to announce that Lions Outback Vision has been awarded the Health Team of the Year title at the 2025 WA Rural Health Excellence Awards! This honour recognises the incredible dedication and outstanding contributions of the Lions Outback Vision team, who have tirelessly worked to improve the health and wellbeing of people in remote and regional areas. This year’s event saw more than 30 health professionals and teams recognised for their outstanding efforts and representing nearly every region in country Western Australia in 12 different categories.
The WA Rural Health Excellence Awards are hosted by Rural Health West and WA Country Health Services and sponsored by Royal Flying Doctor Service WA. These awards celebrate those who have made significant strides in improving healthcare access and quality for people living in some of the most isolated regions of Western Australia. The awards serve as an important platform to shine a spotlight on the healthcare professionals whose impact is felt profoundly by rural communities across the state.
Since their inception in 2008, the WA Rural Health Excellence Awards—formerly known as the WA Country Doctors Awards—have become a highlight of the WA Rural Health Weekend. This remarkable event, co-hosted by Rural Health West and the WA Country Health Service since 2017, brings together healthcare professionals, finalists, winners, their families, friends, and colleagues to celebrate excellence in rural healthcare. It’s an opportunity to recognise those who go above and beyond to ensure that people in rural communities have access to the high-quality healthcare they deserve.
Congratulations Lions Outback Vision on this well-deserved recognition. Together with our partners, Lions Outback Vision’s work changes lives and makes an incredible difference to people in regional and remote communities.
We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to Rural Health WA for hosting this event, and to Royal Flying Doctor Service WA for sponsoring the awards and supporting the recognition of these rural healthcare professionals.
Congratulations to all the category winners, finalists, nominees and healthcare heroes who continue to make rural health a priority. You are all making a lasting difference in the lives of those who need it most!
