“I am passionate about ophthalmology, in particular the management of corneal disease and refractive surgery. I find it extremely rewarding to be able to improve my patients’ vision and thus their quality of life.”
Dr Andrea Ang is a consultant ophthalmologist at the LEI and Royal Perth Hospital. She specialises in corneal and refractive surgery including corneal transplantation, cataract, and laser refractive surgery.
After completing ophthalmology specialty training in Western Australia in 2003 – graduating with UWA’s gold medal in medicine – Dr Ang gained a Masters of Public Health from Harvard University. She then undertook two years of advanced fellowships in corneal and external diseases in Cincinnati USA and Singapore. She is the author of several text book chapters and scientific papers, a reviewer for a range of international journals, and presents at national and international conferences.
Dr Ang is committed to excellence in teaching and is actively involved in education and training for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO). She is currently a participant in the RANZCO leadership development program.
