Professor Dao-Yi Yu AM heads the Lions Eye Institute’s Physiology and Pharmacology group. He has had continued support from the NHMRC for more than 25 years, and has enjoyed long-term collaborations with leading universities and instrument and pharmaceutical companies over a long period. Professor Yu was acknowledged in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list in 2019 for his contributions to eye research, including leading development of the XEN® Glaucoma gel stent that has revolutionised the treatment of glaucoma.

Research Activity
Professor Yu’s main areas of research are diagnostics and therapeutics for retinal diseases and glaucoma, retinal energy metabolism and vascular biology and laser therapy and surgery. He has published more than 250 papers in over 17 high quality journals including Neuroscience, Brain Research, and the Journal of Microvascular Research.
